About John P. Gouttiere
John P. Gouttiere has engaged in the continuous practice of law for over 45 years, providing clients with efficient solutions to their legal problems.
Having served as corporate counsel to several firms in various industries, Mr. Gouttiere has experience providing a full range of service in the areas of business law, and litigation. He has represented business clients and consumers in residential and commercial real estate matters.
In 45 years of practice, Mr. Gouttiere has extensive experience representing banks, and businesses, creditors and consumers in bankruptcy in proceedings under Chapters 7, 11, 12 and 13.
John P. Gouttiere was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Toledo Legal Aid Society from 1987 through 1999, and he served as President of the Board of Trustees from 1994-1996.
John was also a founding member and the first President of the Board of Trustees of the Corporation for Legal Assistance and Services for the Poor. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toledo, College of Law, of Secured Transactions. He has served as an arbitrator for the National Futures Association, and the National Association of Security Dealers—Dispute Resolution.
John P. Gouttiere was Chairman of the Lawyers and Certified Public Accountants Liaison Committee of the Toledo Bar Association, 1986-1989; is a member of the Lucas County Bar Association, and served as its president in 1986. He has been a member of the Ohio Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Commercial Law League of America, and in 2015, he was elected a Fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation.
Mr. Gouttiere received the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory’s highest lawyerly rating: AV. The AV is accorded to lawyers who have demonstrated through their practice very high to pre-eminent legal ability, and very high ethical standards.
